POLICE have smashed another cannabis farm in South Tyneside.

Around 400 cannabis plants have been seized by police.

The plants were found this morning after a warrant was carried out at an address in Sunderland Road, in South Shields.

Paraphernalia associated with cannabis cultivation was also recovered.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of producing a controlled drug and is helping police with their enquiries.

Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Hudson, said: “Drugs bring misery to those who take them, those around them and our local communities and we’re committed to taking action against those suspected of being involved in producing and supplying them.

“Information we receive from the community is crucial in helping us and we continue to urge anyone who has any information to contact us.”

Anyone with any information should contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
