SAT NAV WARNING ...motorists are being warned not to leave sat navs on show after a spate of break-ins.

POLICE are urging motorists not to leave goods on show after three cars were broken into.

The vehicles all had sat navs taken from them when they were broken into overnight on Sunday.

A Citroen Berlingo and Nissan Micra were broken into on the drive of a property in Cleadon Hill Road, South Shields, while a Peugeot 308, parked in Arthur Street, Whitburn, was targeted by thieves.

Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Hudson, said: “In all three cases sat navs were taken.

“We would remind motorists to remove all items from cars and to make sure their vehicles are locked.

“Police will be focusing patrols in the area and would appeal to anyone with information, or who sees anyone acting suspiciously in the area, to contact the police on 101.”
