A PUB boss from South Tyneside has been fined more than £9,000 for illegally screening live football matches.
Trevor Gould, manager of the Dolly Peel, in Commercial Road, South Shields, was found guilty of screening three games covered by Sky in a case heard at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.
Mr Gould was convicted in his absence.
He was ordered to pay a total of £9,561.64 in fines and costs after being convicted of dishonest reception of a television transmission without a commercial viewing agreement.
The conviction came after an investigation by the Federation Against Copyright Theft.
Alison Dolan, deputy managing director at Sky Business, said: “This case demonstrates the seriousness of this issue.”
