ROGUES’ GALLERY: Do you know suspected thieves?

DO you recognise any of these people? As part of a crackdown on shoplifting, South Tyneside police have released CCTV images of suspects they want to speak to in relation to 11 thefts.

The thefts range from bottles of booze being snatched to hi-tech electronic equipment and cash being taken, and amount to thousands of pounds worth of goods in the space of less than two months.

Now, police have launched an urgent appeal for the public’s help to identify those responsible.

South Tyneside Chief Inspector Michael Barton said: “We want to speak to the people in the images, as they may be able to help us with our inquiries into these crimes.

“We work closely with local businesses and shop security staff here in South Tyneside to try to stop shoplifters.

“We have schemes like Shopwatch in place to deter criminals and to help stop this type of crime from taking place.

“If anyone recognises people in the photographs then I’d urge them to contact police with information as soon as possible.

“We take this type of offence seriously and need the public’s help to bring those responsible in front of the courts.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
