A MAN who was found wandering in a distressed state after his penis was severed has at last been able to speak to police about how he came by his injuries.
Police closed the A66 in Middlesbrough last Thursday morning to allow officers to search the area close to a travellers’ site in South Bank.
Officers have tried to establish the 40-year-old victim’s movements between coming home at 6pm last Wednesday and him being found by the dual-carriageway around 5am the next day.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: “Specially-trained officers have visited the man on a number of occasions since his admittance to hospital, and have spoken to him about his injuries and how he has come about them.
“He is engaging with these officers and is assisting them as he continues to undergo treatment and begin recovery.
“Officers again appeal for anyone who has not yet spoken to police who saw the man between 6pm on Wednesday and 5am on Thursday to get in touch on the non-emergency number 101.”
