A MAN who stole two boxes of wine from a South Tyneside store has been handed a conditional discharge by magistrates.
Marc Fareham was caught on CCTV taking the booze, valued at £40 in total, from BHS at Waterloo Square, South Shields, on November 5.
The 41-year-old pleaded guilty at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court to theft from a shop.
Laura Johnson, defending, said: “He was struggling financially, was unemployed and had no income. He sold the items for half of their value at Chichester Metro station.”
Fareham, of Devonshire Street, South Shields, was given a six-month conditional discharge, plus a £15 surcharge.
