A CANNABIS farm containing plants worth thousands of pounds has been broken up by police in South Shields.
At 7.16pm yesterday, officers raided an address in Dean Terrace, Tyne Dock. where they found 400 plants, along with heating and lighting equipment.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at the property, and is currently in custody helping with inquiries.
Acting Neighbourhood Inspector Nick Gjorven said: “Officers acted on information received to attend the address and carry out a search, where they discovered around 400 cannabis plants.
“These are drugs that will not reach the streets of South Tyneside or the force area.
“We always act on information passed to us, and I’d urge anyone who suspects there is drug-related activity in their area to contact police.”
