South Shields man due in court on MP threat charge

A South Shields man is due to appear in court this morning accused of making online threats to an MP.

John Nimmo, is accused of sending two threatening emails in the space of three days to Labour MP Luciana Berger.

The 28-year-old is alleged to have carried out the offences on July 6 and July 8.

He appeared in the dock at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court earlier this month charged with two counts of sending electronical communications which conveyed a a message which was threatening for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety to the Labour MP for Liverpool Wavertree.

Nimmo was remanded in custody until a hearing back at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court this morning.
