South Tyneside trainee seaman in court on drugs charges

A MERCHANT navy trainee at South Tyneside marine school has appeared in court accused of a string of drugs charges.

Graeme Donald James Gentles, who studies at South Shields Marine School, was accused of seven drug offences when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court.

No pleas were taken during the hearing.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between December 1 2011 and October 5 2012.

Gentles, of Brackenhill, Braithwaite, near Keswick, is charged with supplying cocaine, lysergic acid diethylamide, mephedrone and ecstasy and possessing cannabis and ectasy with intent to supply them.

The 24-year-old will be back in court for a further administrative hearing on July 14.

He was granted bail until that date.
