THIEVES have driven off with a bin full of scrap metal from a South Tyneside business.
The theft happened at a unit on the Rekendyke Industrial Estate, South Shields, at 11.20am on Tuesday.
A van was seen taking a bin filled with scrap away from the premises.
Businesses are now being urged to ensure all waste is secure.
Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Sutton said: “The police are continuing to work hard, along with reputable scrap metal dealers, to crack down on rogue collectors.
“We would appeal to anyone to contact police if they are suspicious of vehicles operating in their area so they can be checked.”
