Three deny South Shields man’s murder

VICTIM ... South Shields man David Charlton.

VICTIM ... South Shields man David Charlton.

THREE people today denied the murder of South Shields man David Charlton when they appeared at crown court.

Mr Charlton was stabbed to death as he made his way home from The Last Orders pub in the town with his girlfriend on December 21 last year.

At Newcastle Crown Court this afternoon, Keith Honeyman, 19, of Alice Street, Paul Carr, 31, of Hudson Street, and a 15-year-old, who cannot be named, all pleaded not guilty to murder.

Honeyman appeared via videolink to HMP Durham and the other two appeared at the hearing in person.

A trial will take place on June 10 and is expected to last around three weeks.

Judge James Goss QC remanded all three in custody.
