A TWITTER pervert has been jailed after striking up a sexual relationship with a young teenager – just weeks after being spared jail for possessing child pornography.
Jonathon Maddison, 20, was given a community order in July after he was caught with 161 photographs and eight films of children being abused, on his computer.
Maddison, of Barmston Way, Washington, was made the subject of a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention order to limit his computer use and restrict his contact with children.
But just weeks after appearing in court, Maddison started meeting up with a 13-year-old girl he met over the Twitter networking site.
Maddison admitted having sexual activity with the youngster on two separate occasions in September and October, after she had turned 14.
The court heard it is accepted the girl consented to what went on.
Oliver Thorne, prosecuting, told the court Maddison had been in contact with the youngster before he was sentenced for having the sickening images.
Mr Thorne said: “He began communicating with her via Twitter.”
The court heard after Maddison deleted his account from Twitter in July, because he became the subject of abuse due to the child porn charges, the girl made contact with him online and they started meeting up.
Maddison was arrested when the girl’s parents found out she was not at the friend’s house she claimed to be and tracked her down to his house.
Judge Penny Moreland sentenced Maddison to two years behind bars, said he must register as a sex offender for 10 years and be barred from working with children indefinitely.
The judge, who gave Maddison the community order last July, told him: “You were subject to my court order at the time and you knew, I have no doubt, that what you were doing was wrong.”
Amanda Rippon, defending, said Maddison was isolated and immature, and that the girl knew of his convictions but agreed to see him.
