Two arrested after man stabbed in leg

TWO men have been arrested after a man was stabbed in a South Tyneside house.

Police were called to an address in Stanhope Road, South Shields, at 3.35am on Saturday.

A 23-year-old man had been stabbed in his right thigh and was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields, for treatment.

He was discharged a few hours later and is now recovering at home.

Police have arrested two men, aged 20 and 43, in connection with the attack.

A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At just after 3.35am on Saturday, December 1, police received a report of a man having been stabbed in the leg at an address in Stanhope Road, South Shields.

“Officers attended and found a 23 year-old man with a puncture wound to his right thigh.

“Two men, aged 20 and 43, have been arrested in connection with this incident.

“The people involved are known to each other and police are continuing with their inquiries in the area.”
