MURDER-trial jurors have heard of the sheer panic which erupted after a former South Tyneside man was stabbed to death.
A resident at the block of flats in Warkworth Close, Oxclose, Washington, where Andrew Lucas was killed, today told Newcastle Crown Court she heard the aftermath of the killing last November.
The woman told jurors: “I could hear screaming, people running up and down the stairs. There was a woman running out of the door, running back in, total panic. She was quite frantic, screaming.”
Mark Spalding, 45, of Kestrel Close, Ayton, and Paul Mallin, 35, of Dunstanburgh Close, both Washington, both deny murdering the 20-year-old.
The pair blamed each other for the killing when interviewed by detectives.
The trial continues.
