A SOUTH Tyneside woman arrested on suspicion of stabbing her husband has been released on bail.
A 60-year-old man, named locally as Don Rawlings, was found in his home in Simonside Hall, South Shields, at about 8.45pm on Tuesday.
Police and paramedics were scrambled to the bungalow, where they found him with a stab wound.
He was taken to the accident and emergency department of Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, before being transferred to the city’s Freeman Hospital, where police said he remains in a “serious but stable” condition.
The man’s wife, 60, who neighbours said is called Patricia, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
She has now been released on police bail.
