Woman arrested after man stabbed in neck in Hebburn

A WOMAN has been arrested after a man was stabbed in the neck in a Hebburn street.

The man was found unconscious with a stab wound to his neck just after 12.25am yesterday at an address in Ellison Street, Hebburn.

The police were contacted by the ambulance service who took the man to South Tyneside District Hospital for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Investigations into the incident, which police believe happened in Parliament Street, Hebburn, are ongoing and inquiries around the address are continuing.

A 27-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

It is believed that the man and woman are known to each other.
