A WOMAN who stole jars of coffee from a South Tyneside store has been hit with a court fine.

Gemma Campbell was seen on CCTV packing jars of coffee into a bag along with a co-accused man and leaving the Iceland store, in Prince Edward Road, South Shields, on April 14 without paying.

The 29-year-old, of Ingham Grange in South Shields, was given a £50 fine at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court after admitting a charge of shop theft.

She was also ordered to pay £26 of compensation to Iceland for the theft of the jars of coffee, which were not recovered, and court costs of £40.

The court heard that the co-accused male is in custody and will be dealt with separately.
