A WOMAN had drugs stashed in her bra when stopped by police.
Officers found two bags of amphetamine when they searched Andrea Mallam in Primrose Terrace, Jarrow, on Monday, May 12.
The 45-year-old was arrested and told police she had been given the drugs by a male she refused to name the day before – but said she believed them to a glucose and vodka mixer.
Mallam pleaded guilty to possessing a Class B drug at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
Glenda Beck, prosecuting, said: “At 10.50am on May 12, officers where in Primrose Terrace in Jarrow when they spoke to the defendant.
“They carried out a search and she had a bag of amphetamine in a cigarette box and one bag in her bra.
“She said it was glucose mixed with vodka and was going to use it to give her drink a kick.
“It was field tested and found to be amphetamine.
“She told police she puts items in her bra as she doesn’t like to put things in her pockets and doesn’t have a bag.”
Mallam, of Ashbourne Road, Jarrow, was fined £55 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
