A WOMAN accused of fracturing a baby’s leg has made her first appearance at crown court.

Sharon Hutchinson is accused of causing the injury in Sunderland last August.

The 43-year-old appeared at Newcastle Crown Court today, where she was not asked to enter a plea to the charge of unlawful wounding.

It is claimed the baby suffered a displaced femur and had a number of bruises when taken to hospital.

Hutchinson, of Eglington Street, Sunderland, will be back in court to enter a plea to the charge she faces on June 17.

A trial date has been listed for September 10 before Judge Penny Moreland.

Hutchinson was released on bail in the meantime.
