GLITTERBALL ... a reveller had her handbag stolen.

Police are calling on revellers to keep an eye on their belongings when enjoying a night out in the town.

The reminder comes after a woman had the contents of her bag stolen in a popular South Shields nightspot.

The bag was later recovered but a phone, electric cigarette and cash had been taken.

The theft happened while the woman was in Glitterball in Ocean Road, South Shields, on Saturday between midnight and 12.35am.

Neighbourhood Inspector Peter Sutton said: “We would always encourage people on a night out with friends to always keep their belongings in view at all times.”
