A football club is set to host a day of entertainment for the family to celebrate its promotion.
South Shields FC will open the doors of its Mariners Park ground, in Shaftesbury Avenue, on Sunday, May 1.
The Mariners were recently promoted to Northern League Division One after an excellent campaign, and are still battling for the title.
On the fun day, there will be more than 10 fairground rides on the pitch, as well as live music and food and drink stalls. The bar at the ground will also be open.
Meanwhile, there will be an opportunity to meet the Shields players and take part in games and competitions, with lots of prizes, including an iPad.
The event is being sponsored by Mill Volvo, and will take place between noon and 5pm.
Alisha Henry, the club’s commercial and events manager, said: “This promises to be a great day for people of all ages.
“As a club, we want to thank the community and all of our fans for their superb support this season, and this gives us a chance to do that and celebrate a great season together.
“Even those who are not football fans will be able to enjoy it, with so many activities for children and plenty for the adults as well.
“We’d love to see the ground full and everyone here enjoying themselves.
“Everyone at the club can’t wait for it, and we hope plenty of people join us for a day of celebration.”
Among the other attractions will be a kid’s corner, while wristbands for using the ride are available for pre-sale from the club for £8, or £10 on the door. To book, call 0191 454 7800.
