PICTURE SPECIAL: D-Day for A-level students

Waiting for Video...

HUNDREDS of South Tyneside students will be nursing hangovers today after celebrating top A-level results.

The borough beat the national average with a 98.7 per cent pass rate.

Harton Technology College, in South Shields, notched up an A* to E pass rate of 99.3 per cent, with every sixth form student leaving with at least one pass.

St Joseph’s Catholic Academy, in Mill Lane, Hebburn, had a 99 per cent pass rate and South Tyneside College’s was 98 per cent.

Here’s a slideshow of pictures taken by Gazette photographer STUART NORTON of students celebrating - and occasionally commiserating - with their friends.
