HAPPY PUPILS ... from left, Boldon Schools Ellie Ogden, Georgia Martin, Erin Temple, Dionne Towers, Tiegan ONeil and Olivia Sugden with teacher Joseph Davey.

PARENTS of youngsters at a South Tyneside school have praised the education their children are receiving.

Boldon School asked people attending a parents’ evening for Year 8 pupils to complete a survey about the school.

All of those who completed the survey said they were happy that their children were safe at the school, in New Road, Boldon Colliery.

While 98 per cent of parents or carers said they knew who to approach with questions or to talk about any problems, are happy with how issues are resolved and think the discipline procedures are fair.

Joseph Davey, assistant director of learning for Year 8, says it is important to the school that parents are happy that their children are safe, happy and learning well.

He said: “We are very proud of our Year 8 students and pride ourselves on working to forge strong links with the parents of our students.

“When we work together successfully, we can provide better outcomes for our young people”.

In another category, 98 per cent of parents also said they were happy with the amount of out-of-school activities on offer, the progress their children make in lessons and that 100 per cent attendance is rewarded.

The survey also showed that between 94 and 95 per cent of children think behaviour in the school and lessons is good, bullying is dealt with quickly and effectively and the amount of homework they are given is correct.

David Fairclough, assistant headteacher, said, “We are extremely happy with these responses and would like to thank all of the parents and carers completed a survey”.
