PUPILS at a South Tyneside school are experts when it comes to dealing with the science of zombies.
Whitburn Church of England Academy students enjoyed an unusual science lessons as part of their annual STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics – day.
Youngsters experienced a ‘Zombie Science’ lecture which featured a multi-media presentation, live demonstrations and an online exam certified by the Zombie Institute for Theoretical Studies (ZITS).
This lesson was a fun way of learning about key concepts such as the role of DNA in determining human characteristics and how infections are spread through bacteria and viruses.
Nick Clougher, head of maths and computing, added: “The pupils have had a wonderful time and they have all learnt lots of new things about our topic of medicine.”
