PAUL Gascoigne suffered a suffered a suspected broken arm at St James’s Park – after taking to the field again at his former stomping ground.
The former Newcastle United and England midfielder suffered the injury in a game at the stadium yesterday involving the club’s staff.
Dunston-born Gascoigne was taken to the nearby Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.
Gascoigne – who has been battling alcoholism in recent years – had reportedly been invited to play at St James’s Park by his former Newcastle team-mate Peter Beardsley, now a coach at the club.
Before the match Lauren Gascoigne, his niece, posted a photograph of the 46-year-old wearing United’s yellow away strip next to the dugouts on Twitter.
