A FAMOUS South Tyneside fish-and-ship shop has reeled in another accolade.
Colman’s in South Shields has been named among the best places to eat fish and chips in the country.
The Ocean Road restaurant and takeaway has been included in The Times newspaper’s 30 best chippies in the UK.
It was the only one in Tyne and Wear to make the list.
Owner Richard Ord said: “Once again, we are thrilled to make a national list and to help put South Tyneside on the map.
“We work hard every day to ensure our customers are given the best-tasting and sourced fish and chips possible, and it seems it’s that mantra which has helped us to make this list.
“Everyone at Colman’s is delighted to see that the praise we receive from our customers every day has once again been recognised nationally.”
The South Shields business came in at No 29 on the list.
The newspaper said: “Colman’s is heaving with awards and has a loyal following from locals, as well as returning visitors from around the UK.”
The restaurant has been featured in the Good Food Guide for the last four years and was also named best takeaway in the Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards and best restaurant in the National Fish and Chip Awards, as well as landing a prize for sustainability in the Les Routiers Awards.
