SOUTH Tyneside Aquatic, Marine & Pondkeeper Society is once again inviting fish owners to showcase their pets to the public.

The event, taking place on Sunday at the Charles Young Centre, in Talbot Road, South Shields, is now in its eighth year, and attracts hundreds of visitors from across the country.

A number of prizes will be up for grabs for winning entries, including the chance to win a place at the British Championships, run by the British Aquatic Society later this year in London.

Club secretary Bede Kerrigan said: “Every year we have people travelling from across the country to visit the event, from those who have looked after tropical fish for years to those who are new.

“As well as items for sale, advice and information will also be available on how to look after fish.”

Money raised at the event will be donated to charity.

Admission to the event is 50p. Those exhibiting fish are charged 20p to a maximum £5. Judging starts at 12.30pm. Doors open at 10am.
