Former England player Kenny Sansom has been lined up to host a sportsman’s dinner in South Tyneside.
The 57-year-old will appear at the Hedworth Hall, in Dean Road, South Shields, on June 2.
The ex-England and Arsenal player has had a well-documented battle with alcohol and, earlier this year, turned to chat show Jeremy Kyle for help.
During his professional career, Sansom held the record for the mumber of caps for an England national team full back before it was overtaken by Ashley Cole in 2011,
He appeared 86 times for his country between 1979 and 1988 and spent a season at Newcastle United.
The event will be compered by Lester Crabtree.
Tickets, priced £15, are on sale now and include a meal.
The visit by Sansom follows on from other well-know sporting stars from the past and present including Paul ‘Gazza’ Gascoigne, Kevin Keegan, Alan Shearer, boxers Larry Holmes and Sugar Ray and more recently Anthony Joshua.
For tickets, contact the Hedworth Hall on 456 3112.
Doors open at 7pm.
