FUNDRAISERS got in a spin while collecting more than £2,000 for a South Tyneside hospice.
The charity event, in aid of St Clare’s Hospice in jarrow, took place at Lifestyle Fitness in Crossgate, South Shields.
Keep-fit enthusiasts got in the saddle on exercise bikes to help the Primrose Terrace hospice, founded in 1987, meet its annual operating costs of almost £2m.
So far, charity champs at the gym have raised £2,149 by spinning, a form of pedalling workout.
Club member Billy Skipper, organiser of the charity cycling challenge, has supported the hospice for years, including taking part in its annual Boxing Day dip.
Senior hospice fundraiser Vanessa Mustard said: “We were astounded to hear how much the group have raised by taking on this challenge.
“They have raised a fantastic amount, which will enable us to continue providing high-quality care to patients and supporting their families.”
