FUNERAL staff will leap from the Tyne Bridge as they bid to raise more than £1,000 for patient care in South Tyneside.
Staff from Peter Johnson Funerals, in Whiteleas Way, South Shields, will take part in the annual sponsored zip slide to boost St Clare’s Hospice, Jarrow, which has to find annual operating costs of £2m.
A team from the company is determined to raise £1,000 or more to boost patient care by zip sliding from the bridge to Gateshead quayside.
Owner Peter Johnson, who is taking part in the charity event at the Tyne Bridge, on Sunday, May 12, said: “We jumped at the chance to take part as a team in this event.
“We are all looking forward to taking on such an amazing challenge. We support the hospice as much as possible and this was just another way we could try to help.”
Senior hospice fundraiser Vanessa Mustard-Wright said: “We are delighted to have a team of brave participants from Peter Johnson Funerals supporting our zip wire challenge.
“The company has supported us for many years and staff have also taken part in an abseil before, proving they really have a head for heights!
“We wish them the best of luck with their fundraising.”
Places are still available for the charity Tyne Bridge zip slide on behalf of the hospice.
The cost is £12, and participants are asked to raise as much money as possible for patient care.
