For the first time the subjects were graded with numbers instead of the A*-G grades.

The school recorded two-thirds of its students achieving at least a good pass in both Maths and English with overall results comparing favourably with recent years and with the local, regional and national picture.

He said: “I am delighted with the GCSE results once again.

“Despite the changes to numbered grades in Maths and English, the results compare extremely favourably with recent years and with the local, regional and national picture. Two-thirds of the students achieved at least a good pass in both Maths and English.

“The students and staff work harder and harder and it was fabulous to see so many happy and smiling faces this morning.

“My sincere thanks go to the staff for their magnificent efforts as ever and massive thanks to the parents and Governors for their marvellous support.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our wonderful year 11 students all the very best for the future, whether they are joining us at our outstanding sixth form or continuing on to pastures new. They have been an absolute delight and deserve their stunning successes today.”
