A TALK detailing a hospital’s rise to becoming a centre for knee surgery excellence will be given next week.
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon, Mr Oday Al-Dadah, is to give a presentation at South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust’s Medicine for Members meeting, in which he will outline the latest innovations in knee surgery which are being introduced.
Associate editor of The Journal of Knee Surgery, Mr Al-Dadah joined the expert trauma and orthopaedic surgery department at the hospital last year.
“We are making great progress in implementing a range of innovative services to enable patients to quickly regain their mobility and independence after surgery,” he said.
“Our ultimate aim is for the hospital to be an acknowledged leader in the field of knee surgery.
“In patients who have had sports injuries, we are successfully performing cruciate ligament reconstruction and cartilage repair surgery of the knee.
“Patients are able to walk and go home on the same day of their operation.
Mr Al-Dadah’s free talk, which is called Management and Latest Innovations in Knee Surgery at South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust: Developing a Centre of Excellence, will be on Tuesday.
It starts at 2.30pm, in the lecture theatre, in the Education Centre at South Tyneside District Hospital.
Anyone wishing to attend should book a place by calling the membership line on 202 4121 during office hours, or to leave a message.
