SLIMMER Jason Hartley is putting out a plea for more men to join him at his club.
The 49-year-old is the only man who goes along to the weekly Slimming World group, which is run by his wife, Tina, in South Shields.
After losing four stone with the help of the club and his fellow members, he’s hoping more men will join him at the weekly meetings at St Lawrence Church, in Centenary Avenue, South Shields.
Jason, a business development manager, said: “Slimming World has worked for me because I have been able to eat my favourite meals like curries and roasts and still lose weight.
“I’ve never felt hungry.
“Since losing weight, I’ve also become far more active and now enjoy exercising. I cover at least 100 miles a week – something I’d never have considered before joining.
“Walking through the doors of a slimming club can be a very daunting, but anyone who does is immediately put at ease with the friendliness of our members.
“The support that they give each other is amazing – even when you’ve had a bad week.”
Tina, who has also lost more than 4st with the help of Slimming World, is hoping her husband will inspire more men to sign up.
She said: “Having Jason’s support when I first joined made it so much easier for me to make simple, easy changes and cook family favourites that we could all enjoy, as well as eating out and socialising too.
“My son, Lewis loves Slimming World chips, and doing it as a family has improved our quality of life and brought us closer together.”
Anyone interested in joining Tina’s group, which meets every Thursday from 7pm, can go along or call 07725 796450.
