Tonight’s Hebburn Christmas lights switch-on is being scaled back due to a severe weather warning.

The Mayor of South Tyneside, Councillor Alan Smith, will perform the official switch-on of Hebburn’s festive illuminations with Father Christmas at 4.15pm in Fountain Park.

There will be no entertainment or seasonal songs performed by St Aloysius School Choir or Hebburn Comprehensive School wind band due to the severity of the weather.
