Are these the most luxurious student digs in the North East?
A sauna, cinema room, sky lounge and dinner party rooms are just some of the luxury features at new student accommodation being built in Gilesgate in Durham.
Named Ernest Place, the 362-bed four floor building is being built in the shadow of the Tesco Extra in the area and is aimed at students from Durham’s colleges, as well as other universities.
Due to open in September, it’s the latest high-end accommodation to be built by Collegiate AC who’ve developed similar properties across the country.
Michaela Flowerday, accommodation manager at Ernest Place, said: “Student accommodation isn’t like it used to be. Students are now very savvy about what they want from accommodation and their expectations are very high.”
Prices for the accommodation, which will have a concierge service, ranges from £125 a week to £240 a week, and Michaela says there’s already been a lot of interest.
She said: “The Durham market has exploded with student accommodation but we feel we offer something different. A number of the rooms have already been taken.”
