Letter of the week: Should we be bothered by 'unnecessarily disruptive' South Shields master plan?

The Keppel Street Post Office is on the move to King Street. But, asks our writer, for how long?

So the post office in Keppel Street, South Shields, will soon move to King Street to make way for a grand transport interchange.

The interchange will replace the concrete monstrosity over the road, which only a few years ago replaced the town’s rightful railway station round the corner in Mile End Road.

However, as it’s all part of the Labour-dominated South Tyneside Council’s unnecessarily disruptive £100million 365 master plan, why should anyone be bothered?

But hey, can’t help but wonder if the post office, as mentioned, soon to relocate in King Street to the former officers’ club, ex-HMV, ex-Geordie Jeans, will say in 20 years time become the town’s new library.
