Cheggers loves chips!
CHIP lover Keith Chegwin visited the borough's top chippy to present a prestigious award.
To celebrate National Chip Week, TV personality 'Cheggers' and a potato expert professor presented Colman's in Ocean Road, South Shields, with an award for the region's best chips.
Chegwin said: "The people of South Tyneside have gone chip-tastic and have really shown their love for one of the nation's tastiest dishes - chips.
"Colman's chips are golden, steaming hot, and just melt in the mouth. They're delicious."
Manager Richard Ord said: "Our customers have always said that we serve the best chips, so it's great to make that official."
He was so impressed with the service that he even helped out waitresses by taking down some customer orders.
A national vote is currently being to pick a national winner. To vote for Colman's, click here.
