Club hopes to coin it in at Run
A SOUTH Tyneside sports club hopes to be a financial winner from the Great North Run.
The South Shields and Westoe Club is to make its car park available for competitors and supporters to use on the eve of the run, as well as on the big day itself, Sunday, September 19.
The fee of 15 a day will include overnight parking and access to the field – where cricket and rugby are played – for camping.
A pasta or BBQ meal will be available, and use of toilet and shower facilities, as well as the clubhouse bar.
Club manager Jan Robinson said: "We think this is a real bargain package.
"Also, the club is ideally situated within easy walking distance of the finishing line, and close to a Metro station and bus routes.
"We are a community club which has a strong youth set-up, and this is an opportunity to use its facilities to earn money in difficult times."
