The Recruitment Hub, based at South Tyneside College, provides a vital link between businesses and people keen to boost job prospects.

The initiative will see specialist staff working with companies to access information on opportunities for people to train as apprentices, as well as listing the college’s wider course range and local part-time work vacancies to help people earn while they study.

The hub has been developed after a call by employers to find suitable recruits.

Alison Maynard, principal of the college’s Vocational and Professional College, said: “The link between employers and those seeking to develop their careers through training is crucial.

“Our Recruitment Hub provides a dedicated focal point that will bring them together to benefit both.

Coun John Anglin, vice-chairman of South Tyneside Council’s economic regeneration board, who officially opened the hub, said: “This tremendous facility will benefit young people and businesses in South Tyneside and beyond.”

The hub, based at the college’s St George’s Avenue site in South Shields is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and 9am to 4pm on Fridays.
