Court round up: The latest cases heard at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court

Connor Dodds, 23, of Northcote Street, South Shields, was jailed for a total of 18 weeks after admitting being in unlawful possession of a knuckle duster in Dean Road, South Shields on Friday, June 17 and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause another to believe unlawful violence would be used against them on Friday, July 8 in South Tyneside.

He was also ordered to pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Yvonne Cook, 55, of Winskell Road, South Shiedds was given a 12-week prison sentence - suspended for 18 months - after admitting driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after an accident, both in Green Lane, South Shields, on Sunday, May 22.

She was also banned from driving for 42 months and must pay a victim surcharge of £115 and £85 prosecution costs.

John Haggarty, 22, of Mowbray Road, South Shields, was fined £210 and banned from driving for 12 months after admitting driving while exceeding the drug limit on Thursday, May 26 in Victoria Road, South Shields.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.

Gary Nelson, 29, of Hollinside Way, South Shields, was fined £180 and ordered to pay £150 compensation after admitting assaulting a police constable in the execution of his duty in South Shields on Tuesday, May 3 and being drunk and disorderly in a public place, namely Smith Street, South Shields, on the same date.

He must also pay a £30 victim surcharge.

Philip Ormonde was banned from driving for 28 months and given a four-month curfew after admitting driving with excess alcohol and failing to stop after an accident, both in Wisnskell Road, Jarrow, on Wednesday, June 29.

He must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and an £85 victim surcharge.
