Court round up: The latest cases heard at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court

Dean Thompson, 29, of Beech Street, Jarrow, was given a nine-month conditional discharge after admitting stealing a ladies watch valued at £30 from the Iona Club, in Hebburn, on Thursday, October 22 of last year. He was also ordered to pay compensation of £30 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Tracy Surtees, 54, of Peddars Way, South Shields was given a 24-week prison sentence - suspended for 12 months - after admitting failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions and South Tyneside Council about a change in her circumstances which would affect her entitlement to Employment Support Allowance and housing benefit, namely that she was married, between November 25 2013 and September 23 2015. She must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and an £80 victim surcharge.

Debra Nelson, 30, of Frederick Street, South Shields, was fined £105 after admitting stealing travel cards belonging to Nexus on November 1 of last year.

She must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.

Kimberly Nelson, 32, of John Williamson Street, South Shields, was given a six-month conditional discharge after admitting stealing a quantity of trvel cards belonging to Nexus on November 1 of last year. She must also pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £15 victim surcharge.

Ashleigh Cramman, 19, of Hemsley Road, South Shields, was banned from driving for 23 months and fined £45 after admitting driving with excess alcohol in South Shields, on Sunday, May 26. She must also prosecution costs of £85 and a £41 victim surcharge.

Wayne Lawson, 40, of Broughton Road, South Shields, was fined £50 after admitting failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver between June 4 and July 2. He was also ordered to pay court costs of £30 and a £20 victim surcharge.
