DJ Sash! ready to get clubbers dancing
DANCE music-lovers in South Tyneside will be partying to the sound of one of clubland's biggest names this weekend.
Tomorrow night, superstar DJ Sash! will be in South Shields for a one-off set at nightclub Dusk.
And the German has promised townsfolk a great time, describing himself as a "party machine".
Since starting in 1995, he has sold more than 65m albums worldwide and has had five No2 singles, including Encore Une Fois, Ecuador and Mysterious Times.
The 41-year-old said: "It is going to be great in South Shields.
"The UK is always a great country to perform in and I've found the further north you go, the better the atmosphere.
"It will be the first time I've been to South Shields but I've played Newcastle and Sunderland before and they were great."
And he promised the town's party people they are in for a treat.
He said: "Anybody who knows Sash! knows I'm an energetic party machine.The crowd can expect to hear big, huge dance anthems.
"I'm working on a new single and album at the moment, which might be a bit more pop than people are used to hearing from Sash!
"DJing is a good way to try out new sounds and see what people like, so the people of South Shields might be hearing a couple of tracks from the new album."
Dusk manager Adam Johnson said: "We're absolutely delighted to be able to bring major names like Sash! to South Shields.
"Sash! is a genuine global superstar in dance music – I'm sure a lot of people will remember tunes like Encore Une Fois, whether they are dance music fans or not.
"It's a real thrill to be able to bring someone with his reputation and talent to town, especially in the middle of the South Tyneside Summer Festival.
"It means we're helping to add something extra to the great entertainment mix in the area during the summer.
"Just last month we had Judge Jules playing at Dusk, and we're hoping to continue to surprise our audience with the names we bring to the club from time to time. Watch this space."
Sash! will be DJing at the Coston Drive nightclub from 11pm tomorrow.
Entry is 7 and tickets are on sale now from Atlantic, in Mile End Road, and Dusk.
