A BUS driver was taken to hospital after something was thrown at his bus.
Police were called at 12.29pm today after reports of a bus driver being injured.
The driver was on the corner of Black Road and Hedgeley Road, in Hebburn, when he was forced to slam the brakes on after something was thrown at his bus.
He may have suffered whiplash injuries and was taken to South Tyneside District Hospital to be checked over.
It is believed he was driving the number 27 bus.
A spokesman for the North East Ambulance service said it is believed a golf ball was thrown at the driver but that this had not been confirmed.
