Firm's building on its success

A BUILDING company has almost doubled its turnover after relocating to an award-winning business complex.

Following a move to the Quadrus Centre in Boldon 18 months ago, Opus Building Services has seen its turnover increase from 2.5m to 4m.

The company relocated to help with plans for expansion and to provide a more central location for clients.

It occupies one of the largest office spaces within the complex.

Founded by Gavin Richardson in June 2006, the company offers mechanical and electrical services to commercial, industrial, public sector and domestic clients.

Mr Richardson, 34, from Sunderland, said, "Since moving to the Quadrus Centre, the business has gone from strength to strength. Last year, we became the first company to receive an Equality Standard North East award and, despite the recession, we have still managed to grow

substantially, now employing 70 people."

The Quadrus Centre is a 5m hi-tech, innovative office development in West Boldon.

Opening in 2005, the landmark building is made up of more than 30,000 square feet of office space.

Mr Richardson added: "Since relocating here we have built up a number of strong business connections and, as we are still a relatively young company, this network helps to increase our profile, generating more work."

Coun Michael Clare, South Tyneside Council's lead member for jobs, enterprise and regeneration, said: "It's great to see Opus Building Services doing so well at the Quadrus Centre. We are proud of our links with the centre and it's fantastic for the borough as a whole that the team at Tedco is able to offer such innovative support services."
