Golfers putt lots of effort into charity day
GOLFERS have raised thousands of pounds for charity after completing five rounds in a day.
The Longest Day Golf Challenge was held at South Shields Golf Club, and lasted for almost 17 hours.
Organisers hope to have raised between 6,000 and 6,500 for St Clare's Hospice in Jarrow, through sponsorship and the proceeds of a charity night.
The event was organised in memory of cancer victim Lisa Carr, 29, by friends and family of her husband, Paul.
The mum-of-two, of Robert Street, South Shields, died in March after a two-year battle with astrocytoma, a type of brain tumour.
Family friend Lee Auty, 32, of South Shields, said: "It was an excellent day, and the night was fantastic."
