A DRIVER who died in a crash on a County Durham road was from South Tyneside, it was revealed today.
Police named the victim as Scott Ineson, 26, from Milton Avenue, Hebburn.
Mr Ineson was driving a Ford Fiesta Zetec which collided head-on with a Skoda Fabia on the A689 near Sedgefield at 12.30pm yesterday.
The driver of the Skoda, a 64-year-old woman from Durham, remains in James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough with chest and abdominal injuries.
Her condition is serious but stable.
Her passenger, a 41-year-old man also from Durham, is in the same hospital with what are thought to be minor injuries.
Any witnesses who have not already come forward are urged to contact traffic police on 101.
