Hebburn switch-on falls victim to weather

Gazette news web logo

THIS afternoon’s Christmas lights switch-on in Hebburn town centre has been cancelled due to the inclement weather.

South Tyneside’s Mayor, Coun Eileen Leask, Paralympic swimming star Josef Craig and children’s entertainer Tommy the Trumpeter had been due to appear at the ceremony.

It was to be followed by a funfair and entertainment in Fountain’s Park from 4pm to 6pm.

But now the event has been rearranged for Thursday, from 4pm to 5pm.

Sadly, Tommy the Trumpeter will not be able to attend due to theatrical commitments at the Customs House in South Shields.
