Hospital entrance affected by flooding

THE entrance to South Tyneside District Hospital in South Shields, was blocked earlier this afternoon due to flooding.

At about 1pm the Harton Lane entrance became submerged due to drains being unable to take the excess water away.

A spokesman for the hospital said: “There was some localised flooding today at the main entrance to the site due to the volume of water and consequent pressure on the drains in Harton Lane

“However, we were able to quickly arrange for the water to be pumped away and, at no time were any of our buildings or services affected.”
