Is yours the best-dressed pet?

IT'S that time of year for your pet to sleigh the opposition.

Today the Gazette is launching Santa Paws – our annual hunt for the best-dressed pets in South Tyneside this Christmas.

Last year, hundreds of owners sent us their photographs of their cats and dogs decked out in their festive finery.

We're also looking for the more unusual varieties of pet – perhaps you have a snake in a scarf or hamster in a hat.

Whatever your Christmas creature, take a photo and send it to the Gazette.

The cutest pets will win a top prize of 75 worth of South Tyneside-based online retailer Pet Supermarket.co.uk's very own Murray's brand of pet food.

Second-best pet will win 50 of pet food suplies, and there will be 25 worth of Murray's for third place.

To enter your pet in Santa Paws, take a photograph and e-mail it to gazette.letters@northeast-press.co.uk.

Don't forget to add your pet's name, owner's name and address and contact details.

You can also send your photographs to Santa Paws, c/o Paul Woods, Shields Gazette, Chapter Row, South Shields, NE33 1BL.

You can now also send in your pictures by text. Text SGPAWS (space) along with your picture, plus your name and address, and send to 88833.

Texts cost 50p plus standard network rates. This will be charged to your mobile phone bill. Lines close at midnight on Sunday, January 9, 2011.

Entries received after the closing date will not be counted but may still be charged.

For terms and conditions, plus details about how we may use your information for marketing and how you can opt out, see our Fair Collection Notice on page 2.
