Lessons in dance from blind troupe

YOUNGSTERS got a lesson in dance and culture when a group dropped into their school.

Articulate is the world's first troupe of blind and sighted classical Indian dancers and it was at Cleadon Village C of E Primary School as part of its UK tour.

Dancers performed for the Year 4 and 5 youngsters in traditional costumes before taking part in workshops with the pupils.

Jane Beckett, headteacher of the Boldon Lane school, said: "I received an e-mail about the group and thought the children would find the group very interesting – and they did.

"The children were absolutely fascinated by the dancing, and particularly how the blind dancers learned the moves."
